Our Story

CCC Hobart’s History

Christian City Church Hobart (CCCH) is a Member Church of Christian City Church International which consists of over 180 Churches worldwide.

Pastors Lucas & Annie Jacometti moved from Christian City Church Oxford Falls (in Sydney), to build the church.

Christian City Church Hobart began on the 13th of March, 1995 in the small dress rehearsal room of the Peacock Theatre Company in Salamanca Place. The Church then moved from Salamanca after just five weeks, to the Arts Lecture Theatre on Hunter Street and remained there until September 1995. This building also became too small, forcing a move to the Stanley Burbury Theatre at the University of Tasmania, in October 1995.

In late 1996, the Church’s own building was purchased. Located in the heart of the central business district of Hobart, at 69 Liverpool Street, the new building was bought to cope with the church’s rapid growth.

Then in June 2000, a larger building was needed. The Church took an enormous step of faith, purchasing the old ABC Odeon Theatre to house the congregation and the growing number of visitors. The Odeon seats 1100 people.

Christian City Church International’s (C3i) History

Christian City Church International (C3i) is a group of ministers; men & women in a movement of churches, which incorporates spirit-filled doctrine and practice.

The vision of all Christian City Churches is to actively fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, by preaching the gospel, planting churches, and ministering to the 21st Century man & woman in a manner which is both Biblical and relevant.

Christian City Church International currently consists of over 150 churches situated throughout Australasia, New Zealand, North America, and Europe. Dr Phil Pringle is the founder and President of Christian City Church International, and the Senior Minister of the movement's largest congregation - Christian City Church, Oxford Falls, Sydney, Australia.

Christian City Churches all over the world have become well-known for their contemporary flavor, providing a benchmark for music, worship, the arts, and relevant preaching &teaching. The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individual believers is another characteristic of the movement.

Many CCC churches have their own Ministry Training Collages, some also incorporating Schools of Creative Arts to aid in the development of the expression of their people. Dr Phil Pringle, an accomplished songwriter, author & artist has long advocated a vision of the Church “taking back” the arts for Christian expression, worship and outreach. The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individual believers is another characteristic of the movement.

Pastors Phil and Chris Pringle arrived in Sydney from New Zealand in 1980, with a vision to begin a church. Christian Centre Northside, as it was originally known, began inauspiciously with 12 people on the Northern beaches of Sydney. This church currently has a membership of 4,000+ people and has been responsible for the planting of 150+ churches.
